Regarding types of venting:
BEST: Rigid (solid) aluminum
GOOD: Semi-rigid aluminum (shown in this video)
BAD (DO NOT USE): Plastic, PVC, "flex" foil
Federal U.S. building code states that dryer venting must be 4 inches in diameter, and cannot exceed 35 feet in length. Each 45° bend counts as an additional 2.5 feet added to the total length, and each 90° bend counts as an additional 5 feet added to the total length.
